Rangers boss Michael Beale has been clear that he wants to work with Bayern loanee Malik Tillman beyond this season as the Ibrox manager lauds the USA international’s contribution.
The Gers secured the loan signature of the highly-rated 20-year-old Bundesliga talent in the summer, with Ross Wilson praised for securing a player who played six times for the German champions last season.
But interestingly Rangers also retain an option-to-buy on the player – with Bayern also having a buyback clause –believed to be around £5m.
So far the signs are very promising for the German-born USA attacking midfielder, who has shown in several flashes the kind of ability that has him highly-rated around Europe
Michael Beale praises Malik Tillman Rangers form
Speaking about the form of Malik Tillman, Michael Beale also responded to questions on the player’s future and it’s pretty clear the Rangers manager wants the club to fork out to sign the Bayern man.
The Rangers manager also criticised lazy comparisons of the midfielder with Joe Aribo, as the club reportedly prepare to sign another midfielder in Nicolas Raskin.
It’s lazy to say that [Joe Aribo] and [Malik] Tillman are similar because they are not,” said Michael Beale, ahead of the Premiership clash with Hearts [ Rangers].
“They’re completely different, they’re at different ages. I think Malik brings something different to Joe.
“Obviously we got a couple of loan players and we’ve got the make a decision if we want to retain them longer term.
“He’s a very shy young man, he keeps himself to himself. He’s learning about the hustle and bustle of British football.
“He’s a really calm and composed young man and that really helps him in the final third, I think he’s a goalscorer from midfield.
“I’m delighted with Malik. I am trying to help Malik in a few areas of his game that will enable him to go play at a high, high level in the future.
“We need to remind ourselves he’s 20, he’s as young as some of the Academy boys in the team.
“Everyone is happy [with the situation]. He’s on the same page, we’re on the same page, for me he’s a player I want to work with longer than the six month.”
Malik Tillman has made a lasting impression since coming into Rangers with the Bayern loanee netting six goals and laying on five assists in 33 games this season.
Michael Beale has also been hinting at a potential Malik Tillman link-up with fresh Ibrox addition Todd Cantwell.
