Striker Timo Werner has sent Celtic a warning message ahead of their Champions League clash on Wednesday with a fantastic showing for RB Leipzig.

The Bundesliga side are the Hoops’ third challenge in Europe’s elite competition next midweek and it’s been a turbulent start to the season which has resulted in Marco Rose taking charge. Their big summer signing from Chelsea has netted twice in their warm-up match ahead of hosting Ange Postecoglou’s side, scoring twice in a sizzling 4-0 win over Bochum.

Christopher Nkunku also grabbed a brace as Leipzig return to form after four losses in their last five. They are hunting their first points in Group F against Postecoglou’s side after losing to Shakhtar Donetsk and Real Madrid in previous meetings. Rose had sent a warning to Werner and fellow forward Andre Silva pre-game, insisting that they need to start proving their credentials and get scoring. Celtic are waiting to see if influential defender Cameron Carter-Vickers will be fit for the game.
