Lingard celebrates one of his two goals for Forest, both coming in the Carabao Cup.
Jesse Lingard could leave Nottingham Forest this week, despite the Premier League transfer window being closed, with two huge offers on the table.
Amongst the many signings that Forest made this season, Lingard was perhaps the most surprising of the lot, after leaving Manchester United last summer.
He had long been expected to join West Ham United, where he’d been on loan for six months at the end of the 2020/21 season, to great success.
But instead he chose Steve Cooper’s side, penning a reported £200,000-a-week deal for one year at the City Ground, in order to help keep them in the Premier League.
Many felt that Forest couldn’t work with so many new signings, especially when they added yet more players in January, including Keylor Navas on loan from PSG.
They have won three of the last five games however, and are currently six points clear of the relegation zone, but Lingard isn’t having the effect on the team he might have been hoping for.
