Liverpool are set for a welcome cash injection as they are still owed £12.3million from Barcelona following the 2018 sale of Philippe Coutinho, according to reports in Spain. The Brazilian playmaker has since returned to the Premier League with Aston Villa, who he joined on a permanent deal this summer following an impressive loan spell in the Midlands in the second half of last season.

Coutinho was sold by Liverpool to Barca for £142m including add-ons, which included payments of £4.4m for every 15 appearances in Catalonia.

However, even though Coutinho has now moved onto pastures new, it appears the Reds are still yet to receive the full payment for their former Anfield favourite.

According to Catalan journalist Laia Tudel, Barcelona still owe Liverpool £12.3m from the deal which needs to be paid.

It could prove to be a welcome cash injection for the Reds, ahead of the January transfer window should it get paid before then.

Even more problematically for Barca, they are also due to pay Juventus £31.8m for Miralem Pjanic, a player that has already left the Old Lady.

Pjanic was signed by Barca in 2020 as part of a crazy swap deal that saw Arthur Melo head the other way to Juventus.

The deal for the Bosnian was worth a reported £57.4m including add-ons – a figure that has also seemingly not been paid in full as of yet.

After a brief loan spell with Besiktas, Pjanic has since moved on to UAE Pro League club Sharjah to earn life-changing money in the Middle East.
