PSG president breaks silence on blockbuster Jude Bellingham transfer

Paris Saint Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has admitted he wants Jude Bellingham to sign for the Ligue 1 club.

Bellingham, 19, has been one of the stand-out performers for England during the 2022 Qatar World Cup, with the Borussia Dortmund midfielder playing a key role in his country’s most recent game, a 3-0 win against Senegal in the round of 16.

The Birmingham City academy graduate departed his boyhood club in 2020 to make the switch to the Bundesliga, where he has gone from strength-to-strength. He has quickly become one of the most sought-after talents in world football with Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City all in a battle to sign him next summer.

One other team that may enter the mix for his signature are French giants Paris Saint Germain. With Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in their ranks already, the signing of Bellingham is a tantalising prospect for the Ligue 1 champions as they go in search of their first Champions League title.

Speaking to Sky Sports,Al-Khelaifi praised the recent showings from Bellingham, outlining how “lucky” England are to have him. “Amazing player, what a player,” said Al Khelaifi.

“England are lucky to have him to be honest with you. He’s one of the best players in the tournament. First World Cup and he’s calm and relaxed, it’s amazing.”

The PSG chief was then questioned regarding the possibility of his pursuing a deal for Bellingham, adding: “That’s what everyone wants, I’m not going to hide it, but I respect his club. If we want to talk to him, we will talk to the club first.”
