Barcelona will take on Villarreal
Barcelona will be hoping to get back to winning ways tonight as they take on Villarreal at the Camp Nou. The defeat against Real Madrid has likely damaged the team’s morale quite a bit, and a result tonight could do a world of good for the long season ahead.
Still far from full strength, Xavi has decided to make a few changes to the team that travelled to the Santiago Bernabeu.
In defence, Alejandro Balde has been rested in favour of Jordi Alba at left-back. The veteran joins Marcos Alonso and Jules Kounde, who start as central defenders, while Sergi Roberto continues on the right side.
This back-four has the responsibility of screening Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Sergio Busquets looked far off-the-mark during El Clasico, and therefore, has been benched for this outing. Frenkie de Jong starts in his place as the defensive midfielder. Pedri retains his spot, while Gavi returns to the team following his Kopa Trophy win on Monday.
Ansu Fati gets a well-deserved start on the left-wing following an impressive cameo vs Los Blancos. Ferran Torres gets another following his goal at the Bernabeu, with Robert Lewandowski rounding off the team as the striker.
