Barcelona starting lineup
Following a 4-0 win against former manager Ernesto Valverde and his Athletic Club, Barcelona will look to replicate their league form against Bayern Munich tonight at the Camp Nou.
Xavi has made three changes to the two starting lineup from the weekend. Sergi Roberto picked up an injury during the final few minutes of the game, and had to be stretchered off. Hector Bellerin has received the nod to start in the Spaniard’s right-back role tonight.
Alejandro Balde continues at left-back after solid display in the league. Jules Kounde retains his spots, as well, in central defence, but is joined by Marcos Alonso instead of Eric Garcia. This back-four will be overlooking an in-form Marc-Andre ter Stegen in goal.
Things are pretty much the same in midfield with Frenkie de Jong starting his third game in a row – and deservedly so. Sergio Busquets is sitting at the base as the defensive midfielder, and Franck Kessie has received the nod to round off the trident as the second CM.
Pedri is the fourth midfielder in this XI, starting in a ‘false left-winger’ role. Robert Lewandowski continues in his favoured centre-forward position, and Ousmane Dembele deservedly keeps the right-wing to himself after one goal and three assists on Sunday.
