Achraf Hakimi is widely recognised as one of the most talented young right-backs in the game currently. Having come through the ranks at Real Madrid, the Moroccan ace never really got an extended run with the first-team setup at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Indeed, Hakimi made just 17 senior appearances for Los Blancos and after two years on loan at Borussia Dortmund between 2018 and 2020, he was sold off to Inter Milan for a big fee.

A year later, PSG snapped him up for an even bigger transfer fee and the 24-year-old has thrived in France. Now, Hakimi is starring for the Moroccan national team at the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, playing a key role in their surprise run to the semi-finals.

While he may have signed for PSG only eighteen months ago, the rumours of a potential return to Real Madrid have been doing the rounds already.

And according to journalist Rodra P, Hakimi would be ‘delighted’ to return to Real Madrid if a chance presented itself. The 24-year-old is said to be a true Madridista at heart and would even be willing to take a pay cut to secure a move back to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid will need to replenish their options in the right-back position in the near future. Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez are into their thirties while the latter will be entering the final year of his contract next summer.

Young Vinicius Tobias is making an impression with the Castilla team and could be signed permanently. But the possibility of bringing back an accomplished star like Hakimi to replace Carvajal in the long run could be appealing to the Merengues.

While the player may be willing to make the jump back to the Bernabeu, signing him from PSG could be a difficult task. Firstly, there is a lot of bad blood between the two clubs due to the Kylian Mbappe saga as well as the European Super League project.

Furthermore, Hakimi is contracted with the Parisian giants until the summer of 2026. So, as appealing as a return to Real Madrid might be for both parties, luring him away from PSG could be an impossible task.
