In a major development as reported by journalist Pacojo on SER Deportivos, Real Madrid have offered a new three-year contract to forward Marco Asensio with improved wages. However, his agent, Jorge Mendes, is demanding more from the club.
Asensio’s future has become a much-discussed-about topic over the past few months due to his situation at the Santiago Bernabeu. The 26-year-old has entered the final year of his contract with Real Madrid and talks over a new deal had completely stalled.
The reason behind that was Asensio’s wage demands, which Los Blancos were unwilling to meet. What followed was the winger joined forces with super-agent Mendes and tried to secure an exit in the summer, but could not find a club that met his wishes.
Having been forced to stay put at Real Madrid, Asensio found game-time hard to come by in the initial parts of the season and looked primed to leave at the end of the campaign when his contract expired.

The report further indicates that Asensio is tempted to continue at Real Madrid, having had a change of heart as he understands that life away from the Bernabeu could be difficult. However, Jorge Mendes is said to be demanding more from the club.
Asensio, so far this term, has made 11 appearances across all competitions, all from the bench. He has scored two goals and set up one more.
