Real Madrid player could leave in January on cut-price deal

Real Madrid had a busy summer transfer window but surprisingly, most of their focus was on letting players leave rather than signing them. The likes of Casemiro, Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Isco ended up departing Santiago Bernabeu after spending a long time at the club and enjoying a lot of success.

On the other hand, they did bring in Aurelien Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger. And while the defender is looking like a solid signing, the French midfielder could go on to be a brilliant move for Real Madrid, as he has been spectacular since arriving.

There could be more action around the club in January as well though, with Marco Asensio’s current deal set to run out next summer.

As reported by Newcastle World, Newcastle United could be handed an opportunity to secure a cut-price deal for Asensio in the near future and speaking via his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano said regarding the Spaniard’s current situation at Real Madrid:

“So the January market depends on how these clubs will move on a potential free transfer for next summer or for another it will try to extend this contract but at the moment, still no agreement with Asensio and he wants to feel important.

“So, one to watch in January or on June as a free agent.”

Asensio leaving in January should not come as a massive surprise to anyone because at the moment, he is not expected to extend his current deal with Real Madrid.

That means he would be available as a free agent next summer and thus, January could very well be Real Madrid’s last opportunity to get a transfer fee out of the Spaniard’s departure.

Let’s see how things turn out for him. Asensio has been linked with a long list of clubs in recent times which includes the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, AC Milan, Juventus, Newcastle United and others.

Thus, whenever Asensio does end up leaving Real Madrid, there should not be any lack of suitors. At the moment, the best role he can hope for in Carlo Ancelotti’s side is that of an impact substitute.
