Neymar‘s seventh assist of the season, bagged the 1-0 win in Lyon, has taken him level with Lionel Messi at the top of the official Ligue 1 Uber Eats assist chart.
Neymar and Lionel Messi are currently engaged in a high altitude battle. The Argentine was top of the official assist chart before Round 8, but the Brazilian came close to matching him after PSG’s trip to Lyon – when Messi scored from a Neymar pass. Neymar now has seven assists, joining Messi with an impressive total after just eight matches. The Argentine is still in the lead – but only in terms of the number of assists he has provided in open play (seven compared to six).
Since his arrival in France, Brazil international Neymar has only had one season with more than seven assists – when he won the title of assists leader in 2017-18 (13 assists). By teeing up Messi in Lyon, he underlined the tandem’s excellent technical understanding. The two PSG forwards have exchanged five assists in Ligue 1 Uber Eats this season (two from the Brazilian for the Argentine, three the other way) – that’s more than any other duo in the league.
Further down the table, AS Monaco stopper Axel Disasi is notable in ninth place. Although he had never provided an assist in Ligue 1 Uber Eats before the start of the season, the AS Monaco central defender has now bagged three in eight games.
