Newcastle Linked With Budding Rennes Talent Likened To French International
Newcastle’s January transfer plans are fluid with the injury to Jonjo Shelvey potentially forcing a rethink. Eddie Howe has expressed his desire to inject more quality into the squad but remains practical with the restrictions of financial fair play a barrier to navigate.
The expectation is Newcastle will attempt to improve the squad in some capacity. The club have already made two moves with youngster Garang Kuol officially joining today while Martin Dubravka has been recalled from his loan at Old Trafford.
Newcastle have been linked with a lot of emerging talent over the past few months. Two top youth targets have apparently been snapped up by rivals with Andrey Santos heading to Stamford Bridge and Manchester City reportedly set to trigger Maximo Perrone’s release clause.
In the wake of these revelations, Media Foot is reporting that Newcastle are on the trail of yet another teenage midfielder. The French outlet claims Newcastle are interested in Desire Doue, whose rise has been likened to fellow Renne’s Academy product Eduardo Camavinga, now with Real Madrid and a full French international.
While the sample size is small (16 appearances), Doue could develop as a perfect fit in Eddie Howe’s three-man midfield. The 17-year-old is an excellent dribbler and already adept at winning the ball. Though he is not necessarily the playmaking type that Newcastle are currently coveting.
