Paulo Dybala seemed to be in tears as he injured his left thigh while taking a penalty for Roma against Lecce.
La Joya stepped up and converted after Kristoffer Askildsen grazed Tammy Abraham’s heel in the box.
However, there was no celebration, as Dybala immediately clutched his left thigh and started hobbling.
He looked worried and was grimacing while limping off straight away to be substituted.
Spotted on the bench a few minutes later, the Argentina international seemed very upset and had tears in his eyes.
Dybala had a long history of injuries from his time at Juventus, which was one of the reasons why he was released as a free agent last summer.
He had until now been relatively free of problems at Roma, but tweaking a thigh muscle during a penalty is a worrying development.
La Joya is now very much at risk for the upcoming Europa League trip to Real Betis.
