Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin believes that the problem at Inter right now is that no one within the club’s interests are currently lining up and everyone is pursuing their own ends.

Giving his view after the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 Serie A loss at the hands of Roma, Biasin argued that the Nerazzurri are currently suffering from too many divergent interests between the coach, the players, and the owners, and that things aren’t lining up in one direction.

Inzaghi will naturally have his own interest, namely avoiding being sacked and earning the trust of the club, whilst the players will have the desire both to compete for results and trophies with the Nerazzurri and to advance their own individual careers.

Meanwhile, the owners balance any number of concerns, from sporting to financial, and questions have been raised about Inter owners Suning’s long-term commitment amid persistent rumours of a sale.

In any event, Biasin feels that none of these interests are truly those of the team on the pitch, and that right now none of them are really rowing in the same direction.

“Inter suffer their fourth defeat in eight matches.” he noted. “This group has lost its way because everyone is pursuing their own interests.”

“The coach, the players, the owners,” he continued. “Thus, ‘working as a unit’ has become impossible.”
